Day 1 BSR Bike Shop → Amphawa Floating Market* → Hua Hin (3.4 - 4 hours / 200 kms)

Day 2 Hua Hin → Khao Sam Roi Yot (1 hour / 60 kms)

Day 3 Khao Sam Roi Yot → Kaeng Kracharn (3 - 3.5 hours / 200 kms)

Day 4 Kaeng Kracharn → Maeklong Railway Market → BSR Bike Shop (3 - 3.5 hours / 170kms)

1. Hua Hin

Hua Hin is a very popular weekend holiday for people from Bangkok and all around great place to live. It retains some of that small beach town feel with all the amenities of a full size city. Being centrally located, it’s a great hub to do day-trips for the other locations on this list.

RECOMMENDED BEACHES:

  • Hua Hin Beach: This is the main and most popular beach, stretching for over five kilometers with soft white sand and calm waters suitable for swimming. There are many amenities and restaurants, but it can feel crowded. 

  • Sai Noi Beach: Located a short drive south of the main beach, Sai Noi is known for its soft sand and calm water. It's a good spot for relaxation with beach loungers and restaurants, and a short climb leads to a golden Buddha with views of the coastline.

  • Khao Takiab Beach: Situated at the southern end of the Hua Hin strip near Monkey Mountain, this beach is often quieter and a great place to relax and enjoy seaside seafood.

  • Dolphin Bay: For true solitude, Dolphin Bay is a great option, located about 30 minutes south of Hua Hin. It offers miles of empty beach with a few restaurants and bars. 

RECOMMENDED SITES:

  • Hua Hin Night Market — seafood stalls, local dishes (grilled seafood, pad thai, coconut desserts). Well-rated local vendors cluster there at night.

  • Cicada Market / Tamarind Market — arts, crafts and food — good for dinner/snacks.

  • Hua Hin Railway Station — iconic historic railway building (great photo stop).
    (These are popular, highly rated visitor spots in Hua Hin.)

2. Khao Sam Roi Yot

Why go: Beautiful and quiet beaches, hiking and viewpoints, caves (bring a light!) and the famous cave pavilion (iconic photos). Khao Sam Roi Yot is an easy day-trip from Hua Hin.

Top highlights

  • Phraya Nakhon Cave (Kuha Karuhas Pavilion) — the cave with the royal pavilion lit by a shaft of daylight that is historically significant and very photogenic. Note: the access is from a beach that in accessed by hiking around the point or via a short boat ride. Both are available from the car park.

  • Kaew Cave - is perfect for any aspiring spelunker with it’s several chambers, narrow passages, and total darkness. It’s definitely not for everybody, but the people who enjoy this kind of think will love it. Bring a torch!

  • Laem Sala Beach — the beach that fronts the Phraya Nakhon Cave access and a good place to relax before/after the cave walk.

  • Sam Roi Yat Beach - a beautiful beach full of iconic palm trees that is serene and quiet

Local foods to try near Khao Sam Roi Yot / Hua Hin

  • Fresh grilled seafood (shrimp, squid, fish) at seaside stalls. Local markets and seaside restaurants near Laem Sala and Prachuap towns have grilled seafood and local curries.

3. Kaeng Krachan

Why go: Kaeng Krachan National Park is Thailand’s largest park — huge forest, wildlife, waterfalls and rivers. From Hua Hin it’s a reasonable day trip for guided water/raft experiences or a Pa La-U hike.

  • Tubing / gentle rafting (Petchburi river / Kaeng Krachan reservoir): A fun and unique pastime is to go tubing / rafting down the Phetchaburi river. From Kaench Kracharn city (near the bridge) there are several business that sell rafts and offer pickup services. Simply jump into the water and enjoy. There are several resorts that sell riverside drinks and snacks or have activities like water slides and rope swings. When you’re done, call the shop you started from for a pickup and tell them what resort you got out at. (Note,

  • Pa La-U Waterfall (Pala-U): A multi-tier waterfall in Kaeng Krachan with a great jungle hike and many levels to explore. Levels 1–3 are easily accessible and higher tiers require longer, steeper hikes. Swimming in allowed in designated pools at lower levels

  • Kaeng Krachan Circuit - one of Thailand’s longer/technical tracks, used for national events, club track days, training schools, and special events. NOT for track days, but if you are in the area, especially on weekends, it is an enjoyable place to stop by and see if/what races or events are going on.

Local food to try near Kaeng Krachan

  • Local foods near Kaeng Krachan: Simple riverside and reservoir cafes/restaurants: grilled fish, local curries and fresh fruit. In the Kaeng Krachan / Phetchaburi approach, try local southern/central Thai dishes popular in roadside eateries.

4. Samut Songkhram - floating & train Markets

Amphawa — floating market

Why go? — highly rated weekend market with boat vendors, seafood & desserts. It’s can be very busy, but it is a very unique experience to behold.

When is it open? - Friday - Sunday afternoon and evenings.

Maeklong Railway Market

Why go? — The market is famous for its unique daily spectacle where vendors quickly retract their stalls and awnings as the train passes through the middle of the market and then set them back up again. 

Train schedule: There are multiple trains that pass through the market each day. Some common times listed are 8:30 a.m., 9:00 a.m., 11:15 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 2:30 p.m., and 3:30 p.m., though specific times can vary.
