How do I get a certificate of residency? A Certificate of Residency is a specific document issued by most embassies and the Thai Immigration Office. The required documents to get one issued can vary depending on which embassy you visit, your visa type, housing situation, and length of stay. We recommend contacting your embassy or Immigration directly for full details. Please note: No other forms of address verification will be allowed.

Can I use my home country car license to obtain a motorbike license? No, you can obtain license with the same designation. A car license will allow you to receive a Thai car license, and a motorbike license will allow you to receive a Thai motorbike license.

How long does the process take? A license conversion or renewal takes a total of two non-consecutive days. The first day is 15 minutes to register, and the processing day is about two hours. If you do not currently have a motorbike license, and wish to add one, the process requires an extra 3-5 hours.

Do I need to attend in person, can somebody do it for me? Although we will lead you through the process with minimal requirement from you, you will have to attend in person and perform the basic vision tests and sit for the picture when the license is being issued.

Do I need to take the computer based motorcycle driving test? As long as you have a motorcycle approved license you generally do not have to take the test. However if you do not have a motorcycle approved license you may have to take the computer based motorcycle test prior to receiving your license. Should you not pass on the first attempt, you will have 90 days to try again.

What happens if I don’t pass my test? If you don’t pass your test, you will have 90 days to come and try again. As the test is the final step just before having your Driver’s License printed, our staff will show you where to receive your license after having passed the test, and return the ID printing fee to you. If you would like to have one of our staff members accompany you for another day, the cost is 500 baht.

Do I need letter of residency if I have permanent residency? We can process your drivers license if your permanent residency is issued from the Mo Chit Department of Transport office as that is the location we work from. If you issued from any other location we are unable to utilize permanent residency and a letter of residency will be required.
