What documents do you need to buy or sell a bike in Thailand?
Before buying or selling a bike, ensure all documents are complete and in order for a smooth transfer between seller and buyer. Incomplete paperwork commonly causes problems, including preventing the bike from being registered to the new owner. Required documents and signing requirements may vary depending on whether the buyer or seller is a Thai national or a foreigner living in Thailand.
Thai Seller to Foreigner Buyer
Thai Seller Documents:
Thai ID Card Copy (Signed and not expired)
Foreigner Buyer Documents:
Original Passport
Passport ID Page Copy (Signed and not expired)
Visa page Copy (Signed and not expired)
Certificate of residency (Original and not expired)

Allows buyer to transer without the seller present at the DLT

The certificate of residency is an official address declaration issued by Thai Immigration. (Not to be confused with a TM30, or TM47 90 day report. For those prefer, we have a service to acquire these for you. No visit to immigration required.
